The ACDP expresses its shock and outrage at the contents of a video in circulation, showing a little child being hung from the rafters, through a trap door in the ceiling. A woman can be heard crying in the background while the infant struggles, dangling in the air, holding on to the piece of clothing around its neck.
It is concerning and alarming to the ACDP, that those who are innocent and in need of protection and nurturing are being abused by the very ones who should who should be protecting them. How can one stoop so low? How can adults inflict such pain and trauma on such an innocent child? Is it because we have come to disregard the life of innocent babes still in the womb, that such barbaric acts continue to be perpetrated against those who have survived the slaughter in the womb?
Our children are the future, filled with potential waiting to be unlocked. Adults have the responsibility to guide, lead and mentor children, bringing them to a place where they can become productive citizens of society. Any attempt to derail this process must be resisted and condemned with the contempt it deserves.
The ACDP has passed on the video to the SAPS and was informed that a case of attempted murder has been opened. The perpetrator of this heinous crime must be brought to book and face the full might of the law. The ACDP calls on anyone with any information on this case to immediately report it to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit of the SAPS.
