Of great concern to the ACDP is the rate at which we are losing Councillors to violence. Cllr Maphumulo, from ward 88 in Umlazi, was shot multiple times before the perpetrator fled.
The killing must stop and the one responsible for this gruesome murder of Cllr Maphumulo must be sought and brought to book before the court of law. The ACDP calls on the Minister of Police, the Police Commissioner and the Hawks, to intensify the inquiry into the multiple political killings in KwaZulu Natal, in particular. We must ensure that murder and the culture of violence does not become the norm in our communities.
